Thyme Essential Oil Aromatherapy Benefits

As one of the most common herbs in the culinary world, thyme essential oil aromatherapy benefits are often overlooked, but really they shouldn’t! Thyme has a lot of history, as it was thought to promote courage and strength, and it was woven into scarves for knights and soldiers going into battle. When used for aromatherapy, thyme essential oil helps promote happy, positive moods to help alleviate anxiousness and stress. All of the thyme essential oil aromatherapy benefits makes it a great addition to your collection. But beyond just aromatherapy, it can be used topically as well.

Can you thyme essential oil directly on your skin?

Thyme essential oil, or any essential oil for that matter, should not be used directly on the skin. It must be diluted with a carrier oil before using it topically for skin or hair. While it may seem like a lot of work, it is absolutely worth it to try. It can be made into a massage oil, moisturizer, or a hair mask. Thyme essential oil cleanses impurities on the skin while keeping it healthy and moisturized. It may also have clarifying effects when used in your hair to cleanse impurities! Massage diluted thyme essential oil into your hair to moisturize and clarify your hair!

How to dilute thyme essential oil

Thyme essential oil should be only be a 1% concentration in your oil blend, generally, that is 1-2 drops. A higher concentration may yield a stronger oil blend, but may also increase the chances of irritation on your skin. Be careful with your concentrations and gauge how your skin reacts to your oil blend. If you accidentally add too much thyme essential oil, just add more carrier oil to lower the concentration!
